At Dr. Reddy's, human rights policies are implemented beyond the letter. They are practiced in their true spirit. We are strong proponents of fair practices, inclusive growth and meritocracy. At our campuses, all individuals are equal in dignity and rights and enjoy the freedom of expression without any fear of suppression. We provide employment opportunities to talented individuals, irrespective of their caste, creed, gender and physical ability.

We are extremely sensitive towards the protection of child rights. Therefore, neither do we employ nor encourage any child labour or forced labour, at any of our locations.

For new investments, we perform human rights screening and also have related assessments for strategic suppliers. Anyone found to be engaged in any unlawful discrimination is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

In FY 2009-10, a total of 12 incidents of violations involving rights of indigenous people were brought to our notice. We have closed eight cases in the same year, out of which, in three cases appropriate action has been taken. To ensure the compliance of HR principles regular HR audits are conducted and HR heads of respective departments meet every month to raise concerns, if any, and collectively propose and execute refinements.

In every area of operation, there is a freedom of association for all employees, including contract workmen, to exercise their right to form an Association. We respect this right of employees, recognise their associations/unions through a code of disciplines and negotiate on all matters pertaining to service conditions, leading to mutual benefits. Approximately 7% of our employees belong to a number of different labour unions. As per the regulation, the minimum notice period regarding operational changes is six weeks.
