Responsible Disposal
At Dr. Reddy's we take solvent disposal seriously. Hence even after their delivery to vendors for disposal, our teams keep random tabs on the way vendors handle or reuse these solvents. This year one of our teams travelled all the way to Surat from Vizag, to confirm that the final usage of solvent disposed from our facilities was indeed for productive use in textile units.

Disposal of Organic Residue   Disposal of Inorganic Salts
Efforts to find environment friendly ways to dispose of organic residue have begun to yield results. In 2009-10, over 1,700 metric ton, constituting about 50% of the Company's organic residue generation, was sent to the cement industry for use as auxiliary fuel, and the balance was incinerated.   Effluent streams containing single salts are identified, segregated at source, taken to separate treatment plant and salts recovered through distillation. These salts (Potassium sulphate, Methyl potassium sulphate and Ammonium sulphate) are then sent to third parties engaged in the manufacturing of potassium based fertilisers.
