Energy Conservation
At Dr. Reddy's we are constantly looking for new and effective ways to lower our energy consumption. We appreciate that escalating energy prices hinder us in achieving our goal of providing affordable medicine. Emissions related to power generation accelerate climate change and impede us in realising our goal of safeguarding wellness. However, even as we accelerate our drive to conserve energy we are committed to constant vigilance, so that drug efficacy and drug safety are never compromised.
In order to achieve this goal various initiatives such as energy audits, voluntary energy reduction programmes and increased use of renewal energy are underway across locations.
  MONOFLUID SYSTEM
This initiative is being planned at our new SEZ project at Pydibheemavaram, near Vishakapatnam. In this process, all heat transfer is done via a single fluid system where the medium is 50% MEG and rest water. The temperature range is -25 deg C to +130 deg C; in 4 slots of -25, +8, +40 & +130. The advantages are that MEG is neutral and inflammable and no brine is mixed while changeover with cooling water. Moreover, COD load to ETP is also reduced.
