The year 2009-10 saw significant training investment in building a safer, more secure and healthy work system at Dr. Reddy's  
Basic occupational health awareness training was conducted for 180 shop floor operators and block in-charges.
1,460 internal training programmes (equivalent to 5,355 man days of training) were conducted by internal faculty members on safety. Specialised external training programmes such as dust explosion hazard, tank farm and warehouse management, safe handling of chemicals were also organised for 174 employees.
43 man-days of training were also organised on various topics such as static-electricity hazard and its control and work permit system.
Nine training programmes including sessions by globally recognised consultants, were conducted to create a knowledge base amongst our technical work groups across PSAIs.
 
   
External training programmes conducted by industry experts
We conducted a comprehensive health risk assessment by developing a tool which is in line with the global concept of Hazard and Control banding. Between July – October 2009, unit-wise health risk assessments were carried out across the CTOs and FTOs by a professional industrial hygienist.

Safety training programs for contract workers
All new contract workers undergo two-hour preliminary training on various environment, health & safety-related facets. Moreover, our safety department regularly conducts training programs for our contract workers. The programs include: tool box talks, pep talks and video shows. A special training on construction safety is also facilitated for the construction workers.
